"Penetrating so many secrets, we cease to believe in the unknowable. But there it sits nevertheless, calmly licking its chops." -H. L. Mencken
My portfolio site has been updated again! In the next day or so it will be complete with the current version of Raiding Atlantis, i.e. everything sans final color correct, final sound, and Shot 030. That being said, here is the raw WIP renders from Shot 030. There are still a few texturing issues that need to be addressed, and it still has to go through comp to get the depth and atmosphere in there. Comments and critiques are welcome!
This weekend I'll be sending out the first of many job/internship applications to come. Wish me luck.

Zombie Sculpt
"32. Enjoy the little things." -Zombieland
I give you, zombie. Made with sculpy in roughly 14 three hour class sessions. He still needs a little touching up, but I thought I'd post it before I forgot.

Demo Reel Update
"I could use pants." -Slowking, Pokemon 2000
Just a little glimpse at what I've been working on lately. Everything is still work in progress, and I've been fighting with renders quite a bit as well. I'd love to hear what people think of it!
Cheers!

Mid Term 4 Presentation
"Well the resolution is too poor. It won't help to enhance it." -X Files
In case you're curious what I have been up to, here's my mid-Term 4 presentation. I'm trying to get the first 3 shots done by the end of January, then I'll worry about the characters.
The comp test goes a little quick so here's a still. It needs lots of work, but it gave me a good idea of where I need to put my detail.
And now back to work. Cheers!

Traditional Sculpts and Matte Painting
"Did you think we had forgotten? Did you think we had forgiven? Behold now the terrible vengeance of the Forsaken!" -Wrathgate Cinematic, World of Warcraft
It's a bit of a delayed update, and incomplete at that, but here are some non-3D projects I finished last month. I'm happy with the results of my first matte painting, and even the 3D version is pretty cool. I might try it again some time.
The Medusa sculpt is waiting for the finishing touches on her paint job, but here's the finished sculpt.
We've also started a human figure in sculpting class that we need to take from skeleton to muscle to skin to create a character of our choice. Yes, I am making a zombie. Big surprise, I know.
That about wraps up the non-demo reel projects (besides the 3D medusa-self, which will get its own page). If I have free time I'll be working on something for the World of Warcraft Student Modeling Competition, so wish me luck with that.

I'm GLaD
"We do what we must;
because we can." -Portal, Still Alive
Lighting classes are over, but my lighting work is not. I'm still revisiting some of my previous assignments to make the changes from class critique (or just to give them more time). It's looking like I should spend more time doing lighting tests for my demo reel, though.... and speaking of which...
The timing and camera has been adjusted slightly since this was compiled, but it gives the general idea of my demo reel concept. Or I could just say "Atlantis". Either would work.
And, of course, there's also regular modeling class assignments to work on. The poly flow still needs work, and I need to figure out how and where I'll connect the snake hair, and the body still hasn't been touched as far as retoppo. *sigh* I'll never be on track.
Finally, I have the second draft of my matte painting. I've been advised to amp up my color saturation a bit, and try the painting without god rays. Any other suggestions?
Portal, Hockey, Tacos, and Light Testing. Can a Thursday night get any better?

Demo Reel Beginnings
"Poor lumpy Medusa." -Jordan
I'm now about two and a half weeks into Term 3 and I've finally got some stuff to show for my demo reel. Above are the style sheets for three of the main pieces of my reel. It may not look like much now, but after drawing up my asset list I'm confident that I'll be busy until the last minute of Term 6. I'll also post my animatic here once I compress it to a reasonable size.
I'm also working on a matte painting based on the thrown-together thumbnail above, and a "super hero sculpt" of myself as Medusa (based on the Aaron Sims version of Medusa in Clash of the Titans). I think it's best that I retoppo the sculpt for now to get rid of her "lumpiness" before I try to add detail.
Cheers all, I'm off to class!
